Kevin Durant has right foot fracture; expected to miss 6-8 weeks

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant has been diagnosed with a Jones fracture in his right foot that could sideline the 2013-14 MVP for six-to-eight weeks. durant Durant complained of discomfort in his right foot Sunday, Thunder general manager Sam Presti announced in a statement, and tests revealed a fracture for the five-time All-Star. Presti said that surgery is traditionally required for this type of injury, but added that Durant will be further evaluated by team doctors before a specific timeline and course of treatment is decided. The injury is a major blow for the Thunder, coming just weeks before the NBA season kicks off. Durant averaged a career-high 32.0 points per game last season, while leading Oklahoma City to its fourth consecutive division title.
