Judge Orders Minivan Mom Held on $1.2 Million Bond | Video - ABC News ABC Entertainment News | ABC Business News The mother who drove that minivan into the ocean with her three children inside is facing a judge. Charged with attempted murder as her own children described those terrifying moments. ABCs gio Benitez is in Florida tonight. A first real look at the 32-year-old pregnant mother who police say intended to kill her three children by plunging her minivan into the ocean. A judge granting her bond at $1. 2 million. Wilkerson looking concerned about the bond amount worried the judge would consider her a flight risk and blurted out this in court. I am a citizen. She has not entered a plea. Her family outside court asking for compassion. Need to have some type of sympathy. Charged with three counts of attempted murder and child abuse. Thats her 10-year-old son waving for help lowering the windows after his mom. They tell police mom tried to kill us and mom was going to drive us into the ocean to die. Wilkerson told police she was simply driving too close to the water, that the waves took her in. She said she suffered 14 years of abuse at the hands of her husband. The husbands attorney telling ABC news tonight his client thanks god and the people that rescued his family. The lawyer also saying the domestic allegations were base less. And the result of extreme mental illness. Wilkersons family said days ago they tried to get her treatment before she drove into that water. This story nearly brought me to tears. Nothing about it makes sense to me. Three things keep coming to mind: 1) This woman clearly had some issues, how is it that no one noticed and got her the help she needed. 2) I'm sure her condition has affected these kids in there day to day. I'm surprised no one from school has noticed and taken steps to see what was going on. 3) How are these children going to be affected going into the future?
